The problem with clipless

Cycling shouldn't need a spreadsheet.

Today, a first-time rider has to separately research and buy a shoe, a pedal, and a cleat — from three different brands — and hope the bolt pattern matches. We fixed that.

😩 What beginners do today

  • Buy shoes from Brand A
  • Buy pedals from Brand B, hope they match
  • Order cleats separately, guess the bolt pattern
  • Install everything yourself, first time, alone
  • 2–3 weeks spent researching
  • 3 separate purchases, ₹14,000+ total
  • Still worries if it actually fits
VS

⚡ The Geatr way

  • One box: shoes + pedals + cleats
  • Everything pre-matched and tested together
  • QR-linked fitting & cleat-position video
  • Clip in on day one — zero compatibility risk
  • ₹4,999 flat, all-in

Why choose GEATR?

Compatible by design

🦶 👟

No guessing. Shoe, cleat and pedal are matched and tested together before they ever ship.

Beginner friendly

Everything you need is in one box — no separate parts to track down or match up.

Performance ready

Ride today. Upgrade tomorrow — a real clipless setup, not a starter compromise.

Free size exchange

Because fit matters. Wrong size on your first order? We'll swap it, free.

What's in the box

Three parts. One kit.

Every Geatr kit ships as a matched set — nothing to cross-check, nothing to return because it didn't fit the other brand's hardware.

01

Clipless Shoes

Breathable mesh upper, reinforced nylon/composite sole, ratchet or velcro closure. Sizes UK 6–11, full and half sizes.

02

SPD-Style Pedals

2-bolt, dual-sided, walkable cleats — the forgiving system built for road, gravel and entry-level MTB riders, not race-day locked-in pedals.

03

Matched Cleats + Hardware

Pre-paired to your pedals with full mounting hardware and a QR code linking to a fitting and cleat-position video.

Take a closer look

See it from every angle.

360° LOOK

Built to disappear into the ride.

A stiffer sole means less energy lost with every pedal stroke. A walkable cleat means you're not waddling across the parking lot. This is performance gear built for someone on their first hundred rides, not their thousandth.

  • Reinforced cleat-mount sole for efficient power transfer
  • Perforated mesh upper — breathable on Indian summer rides
  • Ratchet/velcro closure, no laces to catch in the chain
What happens next

Your first ride, step by step.

From order to riding — no guesswork at any step.

For entry-level riders

Efficiency, made for your first hundred rides.

01

More power, less waste

Clipless pedaling lets you pull up as well as push down — more of your effort actually moves the bike, stroke after stroke.

02

Forgiving by design

SPD 2-bolt cleats are recessed and walkable, not race-locked — easier to clip in and out of when you're still building confidence.

03

Consistent foot position

Locked-in alignment on every stroke means less strain on your knees and ankles over longer rides.

04

Zero setup errors

Pre-matched hardware means no mismatched bolt patterns or wrong-size cleats — the #1 mistake first-time buyers make.

The story behind GEATR

Every new cyclist reaches the same point.

You buy your first road bike. Then someone says, "Now you need clipless."

Suddenly you're comparing bolt patterns, cleats, pedals and shoes from different brands — hoping they're compatible, hoping the price adds up, hoping you're not about to make an expensive mistake on your first upgrade.

GEATR exists so your first upgrade feels as simple as buying your first helmet. One kit. Already compatible. Already tested. Ready to ride.

Simple. Honest. Human.

Every GEATR starter kit is built as a compatible system — shoe, cleat and pedal — so you spend less time researching and more time riding. We're building GEATR in Jaipur, India, with one goal: make clipless cycling simple for every rider.

Founded by D. Meena Jaipur, Rajasthan 🇮🇳 — Simple. Honest. Human.

Wrong size? Swap it, free.

We know buying cycling shoes online can be tricky — footwear is the #1 online return category because of fit, so we built the exchange policy around that reality, not against it.

Quick answers

Before you ask.

What is SPD, and why does it matter for a beginner? +

SPD is a 2-bolt clipless pedal system that uses small, recessed cleats. Unlike race-style 3-bolt cleats, SPD cleats are walkable and easier to clip in and out of — the standard recommendation for anyone new to clipless riding.

SPD vs SPD-SL — what's the difference? +

SPD (2-bolt) uses a smaller, recessed cleat that lets you walk normally and is easier to clip in and out of — better for beginners and everyday riding. SPD-SL (3-bolt) uses a larger, exposed cleat built for maximum power transfer on road racing, at the cost of being harder to walk in.

Flat pedals vs clipless — why switch? +

Flat pedals let your feet move freely, which is simple but less efficient — you can only push down, not pull through the pedal stroke. Clipless pedals lock your foot in place, so you use both the push and pull phases of each stroke, giving you more power and efficiency once you're comfortable with the system.

I've heard everyone falls at least once with clipless — is that true? +

Most first-time falls happen at a complete stop, not while riding — it's a timing habit, not a skill problem. Practice clipping out (twist your heel outward) in a safe, soft area like grass before your first real ride, and unclip early at every stop until it becomes automatic.

Can I walk normally in these shoes? +

Yes. SPD cleats are recessed into the sole, so you can walk into a café, a shop, or up a flight of stairs without the awkward clicking or hobbling you'd get from race-style road cleats.

Do these work in the rain? +

The kit is built for regular outdoor riding, including light rain and Indian monsoon conditions. As with any cycling shoe, avoid prolonged submersion and let them air-dry fully after a wet ride rather than direct heat.

How do I clean and maintain the kit? +

Wipe the shoes down with a damp cloth after dusty or muddy rides, and check the cleat bolts periodically to make sure they haven't loosened. Keeping the pedal mechanism free of built-up dirt helps keep clip-in and clip-out smooth.

Can cleats be replaced later if they wear out? +

Yes — cleats are a wear item on any clipless system and are designed to be replaced independently of the shoes as they wear down with use.

Do I need special socks or gear to start riding clipless? +

No — any regular cycling or sports sock works fine. The kit includes everything mechanical you need: shoes, pedals, cleats and mounting hardware. Just fit the pedals to your existing bike's crank arms.

What if my size doesn't fit right? +

We offer a free size-exchange — send the pair back and we'll ship your correct size at no extra cost. Sizes run UK 6 to UK 11 in full and half sizes.

Will this fit my existing cycle? +

The pedals thread onto any standard crank arm (the same fitting used across road, gravel and entry-level MTB bikes), so they work with the bike you already own.

I've never used clipless pedals before — is this for me? +

That's exactly who Geatr is built for. Our starter kit removes the compatibility guesswork so your first clipless experience is straightforward — no piecing together parts from different brands and hoping they work.

I have wide feet. What should I order? +

Full sizing guidance is included via the QR code in every box. If the fit isn't right once you've tried them, we'll provide one free size exchange within 7 days of delivery.

Can I use these shoes with pedals I already own? +

We'll clearly list pedal compatibility for every product on the site. If you're unsure whether your existing pedals will work, message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we'll confirm.

How hard is it to install the pedals myself? +

Pedals thread onto the crank arm by hand and are tightened with a pedal wrench or Allen key (left pedal threads counter-clockwise, right pedal clockwise — a standard detail across nearly all bikes). The QR code in your box links to a step-by-step video for exact torque and cleat positioning.

What if something goes wrong with my kit after delivery? +

Message us directly on WhatsApp and we'll help troubleshoot or arrange next steps. We don't yet have a published long-term warranty policy live on the site — if that matters for your decision, ask us directly before ordering and we'll give you a straight answer.

When does Geatr launch? +

Our first production batch ships October 2026, fulfilled in the order waitlist sign-ups come in. Join the waitlist for the exact launch date, first access, and a launch discount code.
